Karnataka and Hindusthani Sangeeta, Tabala, Mrudanga, and Bharatanatya Examinations
1. Before You Begin
Welcome! This page allows you to register for Sangeeta Bharati’s Indian classical music and dance examinations. Registration runs from Ganesh Chaturthi to Vijayadashami.
Please read this page carefully and enter all information accurately. Your certificates, marks cards, and all official communications will be generated based on the details you provide.

2. Examination Levels
Optional Levels
The following levels are optional and conducted virtually. These exams can be taken for gradual progress:
Pravesha Prathama (Junior Level 1)
Pravesha Dwiteeya (Junior Level 2)
Madhyama Prathama (Senior Level 1)
Madhyama Dwiteeya (Senior Level 2)
Madhyama Truteeya (Senior Level 3)
Mandatory Certification Levels
Pravesha Truteeya (Junior Level 3)
Madhyama Chaturtha (Senior Level 4)
These levels are certification levels and considered for final grading, completion certification, scholarship and other opportunities.
Attendance Requirement:
Students in the U.S. must appear in person for the mandatory certification levels exams (all papers).
In-person appearance is optional for students in other countries.
Madhyama level Eligibility Requirement
To register for any Madhyama level, students must have completed Pravesha Truteeya with a minimum grade of ‘C’.
3. Study Materials
Students may refer to any material that aligns with the syllabus, including:

Audio/video lessons
- All textbooks, syllabi, and supporting materials are available under the Lessons menu.
- Pravesha Dwiteeya Students from all subjects can refer to theory lessons on this YouTube video playlist. Lessons are also available in the textbooks to read.
- The previous year’s question papers can be found at this location.
[For Music Students] If you are not using Sangeeta Bharati textbooks, please submit the list of lessons you have learnt here – Karnataka Sangeeta and Hindusthani Sangeeta. Lesson lists must be submitted at least two weeks before the examination.
4. Registration Window
Registration is open from Ganesh Chaturthi to Vijayadashami.
An extension of up to two weeks may be granted, subject to a $25 late fee.
5. Scheduling & Rescheduling
Most examinations will be held on weekends in December. Due to the complexity of scheduling, students should be prepared to appear on any weekend during this month.
If a student needs to reschedule after the schedule is published, a formal rescheduling process must be followed, which includes an administrative fee.
In unavoidable circumstances, students may request for cancellation within the cancellation period and obtain refunds.
6. Theory Classes
Ten free theory classes for Pravesha Levels 2 and 3 will begin shortly after registration closes.
Music theory classes: Weekend mornings
Dance theory classes: Weekend evenings
This schedule is designed to support students taking both music and dance examinations.
7. Confirmation & Communication
After completing registration, students will receive a detailed email confirming their selected examination.
